Finish Acne
Welcome
Acne vulgaris is a serious disease and symptoms are usually whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and cysts. It is common for such pimples to appear on different parts of the body like shoulders and back, but they are most common on face and neck. People who have acne only in adolescence are usually lucky as it can often go beyond that. It has been found by some studies that around 12% females and 5% males suffer from acne when they are 25 years of age. Dermatologists (skin doctors) usually treat acne using prescription medicine including but not limited to Accutane, Retin-A, and Tetracycline.
But these MUST NOT be used by pregnant women; generally, you should use prescription drugs with care as they can have side effects. The cause of acne is usually a bacterium called P. Acnes that infects the skin tissues when there is an overproduction of oil sebum. Dead skin cells are not shed as they should be, and this results in clogged pores, which later lead to cysts (nodulocystic acne), papules and pustules. Teenagers with oily skin are usually more prone to acne but adults with dry skin can also get affected easily. Popular treatments like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are usually problematic as they cause further drying of the skin; so they should be used by people with dry skin.
It is common during teenage years to get caught by acne but this can often be limited to slight blemishes. Generally, people of any age group can be affected by acne vulgaris although it’s not that common for people into their 40s. Around 75% of teenagers can be said to have acne though it may not be that serious in all of them. To avoid acne, it is recommended that you cleanse your skin – especially face and neck – at least once daily with a mild cleanser. This is even more important when you do some workout and are sweating heavily. You can ask your dermatologists to recommend you creams, lotions, and other cosmetic products that are acne-friendly. Also try to spend a stress-free life, consume enough vitamins in your diet and avoid heavy makeup if you wish to avoid acne for long.
