Watch out for Cystic Acne

Cystic acne happens below the surface of your skin and has very little to do with personal hygiene. Creams and cleansers will not help much at all in preventing it. Cystic acne can be called as a form of abscess which is shaped when oil ducts get clogged and infected. Generally, this disorder is commonly seen in the teenage years and mainly affects on the face. Cystic acne treatment can include certain dietary changes. Information online about diet related issues with outbreaks advise the importance of eating healthy, drinking lots of water, and exercising regularly.

This condition is a type of localized infection formed when oil ducts become clogged and infected. Treatment includes avoiding irritants on the face, including many cleansers and types of makeup, and in some severe cases steroids, antibiotics, or other medications. Also known as nodulocystic acne, it is a severe form wherein pimples develop into small cysts. They are not true cysts in the sense that they are not abnormal dilations of skin structure, but rather nodules of inflammation. It is the harshest form of acne; it can be extremely agonizing as well as lead to acute and permanent scarring. It is crucial to attain treatment before it reaching the stages of cysts or nodules.

Unfortunately it can lead to deep scarring, which means that acne sufferers not only have to buy treatments, but scarring treatments as well. Being a chronic condition that produces painful pus-filled bumps, called nodules, which are deeply embedded beneath the skins surface; and if not treated, will leave scaring. It is often present on the face, back and shoulders, and usually affects male teens. Treatment usually requires a retinoid that reduces the size of sebum-producing glands, and decrease oil production. Isotretinoin is taken orally once or twice daily for 15 to 20 weeks.

Cystic acne is a more severe form of acne in which the infection forms much deeper in the skin than usual. These deeper infections can't be squeezed and popped like regular pimples. It is very difficult to get rid of without scarring if you use the wrong methods of treatment. One of the more tragic outcomes of this form acne is that it develops during adolescence, an emotionally vulnerable stage in life anyway.

If you suspect this type of acne, you should seek competent medical advice.
